34 Weeks- HOLY MOLY

My email told me this today:

Your baby now weights about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which she'll need to regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

A Swimming Sensation

Don't think this is where I'm swimming, but Ashlyn has been great and motivating me to go swimming with her. We went 3 times this week and I loved it! I don't love getting into a swim suit, but it makes me jump in faster!

Have you ever been on a ride at Six Flags or a carnival where you go into a circular room and the walls spins and you get stuck to it and can move up the wall? You feel weightless, and THEN.... once they stop the spinning all your weight comes pounding back to you?! That's how it feels getting out of the swimming pool! I couldn't believe how heavy I was. It makes perfect sense: I can hold Derek in a pool no problem, but not in real life! Anyways, I strongly suggest finding a swimmin pool to any and all pregnant ladies out there! Not to mention it's nice and cool! Ready. Set. Jump in!

Happy Aloha Friday

BEAT THAT

Derek & I received this game as a gift recently and was shocked to find out that Derek had never played before! So, of course, I told him we needed to. He likes a game K-dice on the internet and Risk, so I figured this would be right up his alley. We played it and he LOVES IT.

I have also found a sweet spot for it~ we've been playing quite often
and today we played with Andrew and Christina. SO MUCH FUN.

Now, I didn't win either of the 2 rounds, but at the end of round 2 I was going for either my 2's or 4 of a kind. I had closed out my Yahtzee previously, because it didn't look like I would get it.
You get 3 rolls each turn- and on this turn, on my first roll i got all five 6's!

THAT IS THE HIGHEST YAHTZEE POSSIBLE!
But on the first ROLL?!? WHAT?! It was amazing to say the least!
We all couldn't believe our eyes!
So, let me know if you can match that one of these days! :D

Gestational Diabetes

Alright, well in case you're wondering how I do all this... I thought I'd document it. Sorry if blood bothers you but it's only a prick. I think of myself as Sleeping Beauty on that spindle. ;> So I have cut out a lot of carbs because that's what turns into sugar. I can still eat sweets and carbs, but only in small portions at certain times of day. I do 4 blood-sugar readings a day: 1 before I have breakfast and the rest are about 2 hours after each meal. My goal number in the morning is 90 or less and after meals it's 120 or less. I'm going on week 2 and feel much more confident in knowing what it is I can eat. Whip cream and pickles are the greatest things! Not together, so much, but I love them as my snack. I've found sugar-free ice cream and low card ice cream bars! So I don't feel too deprived! I miss my cereal, fruit/juice, bread, pasta, and potatoes in portions of my liking, but again, if I just keep it minimal, I'm ok!

1: Here is my handi-dandi pouch that goes with me everywhere now.
2: Inside holds all the goods.
3: The pen is an adjustable blood sampler- the white thing is a sterile lancet.
4: Take off the cap of the pen-insert the lancet.

5: Twist off the tip and there 's the needle! Then you put the pen cap back on.6: Here is the Meter and a tube of test strips
7: The test strip: bottom goes into machine and top takes the blood sample.
8: Once you insert the strip there's a symbol of a blood droplet that flashes: it's ready!
9: BRACE YOURSELF! Place the pen against the side of your fingertip. (the side is best because it won't hit so many nerves) Then push the white triangle button for the prick.
10: Ouch, but not too bad. Usually I have to squeeze my finger to get enough blood for the reading. If not, you get to prick again! I've had to prick 3 times once! That was not fun!
11: 5 seconds to your results- 90! FABULOUS! Then I keep it a log and report once a week to my nurses voicemail and she'll call me about any concerns she or I have. I've learned to stick with protein and green beans/ salad! Then I get to choose how I want to use up those carb points!

Hope you've enjoyed this tour of the new excitement in my life! So, no cookies please, unless they're made with SPLENDA! Hand me the Jello Pudding!

Here is my wedding ring filler since my fingers are swollen
it's fun to try different styles :)
Sorry, I had to take it myself... going to church

Ok, I know I just showed my feet, but this was the worst yet...
(a little sun-kissed too)

My toes barely touched the floor when I was standing! AH!
(That's why I've got them up on the table)

Happy Mother's Day To You

Mothers and Moms

This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf laced with
Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, 'It's okay honey, Mommy's here.'

Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who can't be comforted.

This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and
milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.

For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes.

And all the mothers who DON'T.

This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see.
And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.

This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors.

And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football or soccer games
instead of watching from the warmth of their cars.

And that when their kids asked, 'Did you see me, Mom?' they could say,
'Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world,' and mean it.

This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair
when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner.
And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but realize how child abuse happens.

This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies.
And for all the (grand)mothers who wanted to, but just couldn't find the words.

This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat.

For all the mothers who read 'Goodnight, Moon' twice a night for a year.
And then read it again, 'Just one more time.'

This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school.
And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.

This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.

This is for every mother whose head turns automatically when a little voice calls 'Mom?' in a crowd,
even though they know their own offspring are at home -- or even away at college – or have their own families.

This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches,
assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse
an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.

This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them.

For all the mothers who bite their lips until they bleed when their 14 year olds dye their hair green.

For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting.

For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror,
hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.

This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be peaceful,
and now pray they come home safely from a war.

What makes a good mother anyway?

The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?

Or is it in her heart?

Is it the ache she feels when she watches her son or daughter disappear down the street,
walking to school alone for the very first time?

The jolt that takes her from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M.
to put her hand on the back of a sleeping baby?

The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when she just wants to hear their key in the door
and know they are safe again in her home?

Or the need to flee from wherever she is and hug her child when she hears news of a fire,
a car accident, a child dying?

The emotions of motherhood are universal and so our thoughts are for young mothers
stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation...

And for mature mothers learning to let go.

For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.

Single mothers and married mothers.

Mothers with money, mothers without.

This is for you all. For all of us...

Hang in there. In the end we can only do the best we can.
Tell them every day that we love them.
And pray and never stop being a mother...

my lil LADYBUG bedding

-SNEAK PEAK-
Brought to you by My Dear Mother
So, I had this vision of the bedding I wanted. I looked high and low and NO ONE had anything like it! SO, my magical mother said, "I can make it for you!" So we've looked online for fabric and she has impressed me beyond belief! She found all this great fabric! Just wait til you see the rest of it! THERE'S so much more! AND to top it off with a cherry, she mentions that she's almost done with all of the bedding. I swear she just got the fabric 2 weeks ago! She's amazing me more and more! SO, here is a taste of our creation. I had a vision and she brought it to life! I can't help but love it! YAY... we just hope that our lil girl can sleep at night instead of staring at the bold print! hahah I'm sure she'll love it too!

Here is my understatement: THANKS MOM!
Talk about a mother's day gift. This should be reversed!
What a superGRANDmom! ;)

IRON MAN

Check out where my husband took me for date night! :D
It was nice to go to a REAL movie theatre! Not a run down one.
Although, now that the Laie Theatre is closed down, I know it will be missed.
I have to say, if the man in your life wants to see this movie,
GO!
You'll actually enjoy it too! I sure did!

Double Chin=Double Kankle

See those two creases? When I'm standing it makes a roll and that's
what made me think of a double chin but on my ankle! haha

My left is worse than the right... but now they're both bad

Elephantitis of the feet...
This last picture is about the only photo I could find that
I'd taken of my feet prepregnancy.
It's just not something you usually photograph!
But I can't believe how swollen my feet get!
Derek loves poking them to see just how deep-a-dent he can get.
I can't fit any shoe except my slippers/flipflops! BUT as stated before...
OH THE JOYS! ;)

My guilty pleasure... (since chocolate is outta the question)

"Hello, my name is Hillary Williams, and I have an addiction."
When I was a nanny, Tessa had the Gilmore Girls series in here collection of DVD's and I tried watching them and I COULD NOT DO IT! They talk so fast to eachother and they're way too witty! It's just not realistic! haha So I would tease her about her love for this TV Show! Now I find myself, with no cable; with only 10 channels to choose from and I am rushing home at 5pm to watch ..."the next episode!" Derek faught it for a while, trying to watch sports during this time, but I believe he finally understands that this is the ONLY show I "need" to see. haha I can't believe I'm confessing this!
And now for my invitation: thanks to ROSE BRADFIELD, I hope to start watching this from start to finish, because I feel like I'm missing out on so many points of importance! Any and all who are interested, let's watch these ladies lives. Let's start tonight and pop the corn! My place. Let me know if you're interested :) And if no one else is intersted, you BET I'll watch it by myself! So please, don't disturbe. ;>
